Does granting special privileges to women in the workforce make us less competitive than more capitalistic?
Does granting special privilages to women in the workforce make us less competative than more capitalistic countries.
The whole affirmative action, gender quota system, which grants a lot of privilages to women…does this not end up making companies less competative and increase their expenses (by having to give a certain sex more privilages do we not end up increasing our expenses)
The other problem with having a lot of women in the work force in inconsistancy , a woman is allowed to take upto 4 months paid maternity leave in most countries. Now a woman could choose to have 3 kids over a 4 year period, thats a total of 12 months (1 year) of leave, but at the end of it she will still demand the same pay as a male colleague in a similar postion. (the company records will reflect that she has been am employee of the company for 4 years, she won’t take into consideration that the man has actually been consistently working for 4 years).

patois, i bet your article was written by a feminist with no interest in the actual truth.
Tell me Patois, what percentage of Fortune 500 companies were actually foundedstarted by women?
patois, please also explain how women cost less to train and educate…seems like more mindless feminist illogic.
i want to rephrase the question to….
“Does granting special privilages to women in the workforce make us less competative than more capitalist and openfree market type countries.”

Well, you answered the question. It is a fact, though. If Capitalism were allowed in the picture women would not be allowed to hijack their employers. It embarrasses me. Please give Patois the 10 points so you can point out why we hold feminists in low esteem!

Easy, what we should do is allow men to take equal family leave time as women. That way it’s not discriminatory.
Having women in the workforce makes us more competitive because men and women think differently. Studies show the more diverse the workforce is, the more original and innovative ideas will be brought forth, and the more efficient the company will be. Women help increase the diversity.

I’ve worked all my life, and I sure haven’t been granted any special privileges.

Women cost less to train and educate. When their needs are met they are considerably more productive than are men. Board of directors are more productive when women are members than without women members. And, the “biggie”, the more women on a board of directors, the more profitable the company. All of that, of course, was shared with us here in Yahoo News reports.
On the other side of “big business”, males cost taxpayers, to the point of bankruptcy, much more in social costs than do women, including police, prisons, courts, violence, rape, murder, arms violation, health care, dead-beat dads, drug violations, school / mall massacres, vandalism, reckless driving, drunk driving, accidents with fatalities, etc. Add all of that up. I sit on a few boards and let me tell you, big business is laughing its rump off at whiney young men thinking that they matter anymore in “competitive capitalistic countries”. lmao.

Most of the jobs in the world are held by women

Yes of course it makes us less productive. At some point someone who is getting hired based on more than how good they are at the job will hurt us. That goes for more than just women. It includes anyone who gets a job because of their race, age or religion.
The people who really get screwed are the ones who aren’t protected. A good example is Fat people. People who are overweight are way less likely to get a job. Its been proven that obese people will lose the job to an attractive person because people think obese people are lazy. Are we going to start a quota on them? Or how about ugly people or women with small breasts?

No. Supporting the employees makes the company MORE stable. I owned a business, and it is the turnover of employees that causes the most destruction to the business. If you have a good employee, some concessions are necessary. The Corporation does have a soul – the combined ethics and morals of the people on the Board of Directors. A happy workplace is the best thing for the stockholders.

Would you prefer seeing what happens in poorer countries where women have to get secret abortions or hide the children they do have just so they don’t lose their jobs? If you think those practices are role models for this country to emulate, then you are sadly mistaken. Those women are seen as disposable commodities where employers care little or nothing about their welfare.

Who in the world is more capitalistic than the US? So no, I don’t think quotas harm the US in any way. We’re the most competitive society on earth, there’s no way a thing can make us less competitive, especially quotas, other than our education system totally breaking down.
